Stone Digestion – Ad – Post Sponsored by Geib Refining Corp.
Are you doing stone removal on your karat gold with diamonds? You’re doing a disservice to your business and your bottom line if you’re not! Why break Melee, lose them in the carpet or watch them fall under your bench and waste your Jewelers time and efforts when he/she could be doing more productive things with their time. Are you paying in upwards of $200 for this process with your current refiner. If you are, in my opinion, you’re paying too much !!!. Are you getting credit for gold only … or are you getting credit for gold & silver and *platinum (*if Contained) … as you will with GEIB. If you are getting credit for gold only, then you’re missing out … are you getting stones back color and white mixed in one pouch or are your goods separated; color in one bag and white goods frosted in a separate bag as you will with GEIB.
I get asked all the time, will I get ALL of my stones back!? IF you work with a reputable company, you have nothing to be concerned about. My answer to my clientele is always ABSOLUTELY yes, of course you will. We are in the metals business and have no use for stones. A very good friend and client of mine got his stones returned and called me. “Peter, we’ve got a problem my friend.” I had a 3 ct Citrine in the color stones that isn’t here. I asked “are you sure you shipped it !?” It would be pretty much near impossible a large citrine would get lost or eaten up by the acid … I called my team and they said everything’s in order; find out what we need to do – we can get a handful of citrine and send them to him or pay him for the Stone even though we can’t see anything we could have done wrong !? I reported this back to my Client. He said “I’ll call you in a few days.” A few days passed and I got a call. Peter, you know the 3 ct !? I said yes. He said it was a 5 ct. I said, Sh*t, really !? He said yea, it’s 5 ct and it is in my hand it was on my desk – I never sent it. He apologized, which wasn’t necessary and we moved on ….. I was just happy it was found and that he knew we were honest and would’ve taken care of it. You see, sometimes it’s not the refiner.
You can keep stones for a rainy day, for repairs, make earrings and so much more. I have clients that do stone removal on every lot shipped in and I have clients that do it before the Las Vegas NPA Trade Expo or regional shows to sell their stones to a reputable diamond buyer in attendance. My suggestion is take out any of the larger stones (1/4 ct +) and leave the Melee and smaller stones for the acid.
Keep in mind that anything organic like opals and pearls will typically not make it through the acid process. They will dissolve. We, at GEIB, also frost our stones lots after the process to cloud the cz’s in hydrofluoric acid. This makes it easier for you to pick out the bad or no value stones while sorting. We will give you white (diamond) goods packaged separately and the colored stones packaged separately as well. We will send everything back to you. We strive to hide our clients the best service and return in the industry.
Call me personally, email me or message me on Facebook anytime with questions, concerns and needs. I love helping people and I love my new clients too !!! I’ve included our process below from our website geibrefining.com
Geib Refining Corp. has engineered a unique and proprietary system for the wet chemical recovery of diamonds and precious stones from jewelry scrap.
Whether your are a large volume diamond house, retail jeweler, or pawnbroker our processes demands attention to detail combined with state-of-the art technology. These efforts, together with Geib know-how assures accurate recovery on customer critical lots.
Every single lot at Geib Refining Corp. is processed separately. We assay every single lot that comes through our doors. We don’t run an X-ray and charge for an assay as some do. No games – just good business !!!
Our process includes the submersion of stone contained jewelry in chemical reactor baths which dissolve the gold, silver, platinum, and palladium into soluble states. After reaction occurs, your stones are metal free and are then recovered through our finite screening system.
Once your stones are extracted, your metals which are contained in solution are then precipitated, melted, and assayed for ultimate purity.
Your stones are then washed, sorted, weighed and then held for final settlement or specific customer instruction.
At Geib Refining Corp. our systems for control, highlighted by checks and balances ensure the integrity of each lot throughout the recovery process. We have worked hard to perfect our system. GEIB IS THE 2019 NPA LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE SPONSOR.
